Are You Ready for the Digital Product Passport?
Legislation on Digital Product Passports (DPPs) is coming. While final details are still being defined, brands will be required to implement digital triggers and centralize data on material origins, carbon footprints, and end-of-life handling like care, repair, and recycling. Are you ready?
Clothing must comply by 2027. But why wait? Get ahead now with Identa and start seeing the benefits—more transparency, stronger customer trust, and full compliance when it becomes mandatory.

What is DPP and Why Does It Matter?
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a key element of the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), part of the Circular Economy Action Plan. It’s designed to ensure traceability and transparency across a product’s full lifecycle—capturing data from raw materials to recycling.
For apparel, DPPs will be legally required in the EU by 2030, with early enforcement likely for certain product categories. DPPs support sustainability, extend product life, and enable circular business models.
What Identa Does
Identa helps apparel brands become DPP-ready—fast. No need to hire extra staff or build infrastructure from scratch. Our ready-to-go platform gets you compliant within a day while unlocking new opportunities in sustainability, supply chain insight, and consumer engagement.
How It Works

Digital Triggers
Each garment needs a unique identifier to connect it to its DPP. Identa provides these identifiers and links them automatically to your product data. Setup is fast, and everything works behind the scenes.

Data Protection & Compliance
Each QR code is securely managed. By July 2026, the European Commission will host a central registry for DPPs. Identa handles that connection—your data is safe, compliant, and future-proof.

Automatic Compliance
Our system is built around EU requirements. You don’t need to worry about formatting, updates, or uploading documents manually. Identa automates the process so you stay compliant without the effort.

Digital Applications
The QR code on your product becomes a new digital touchpoint. Customers can view detailed product info, reorder, share, or check if an item is still available. Your DPP becomes an engagement tool—not just a regulatory box to tick.
Mandatory DPP Data Elements
To meet EU requirements, every Digital Product Passport must include:
- Unique Product Identifier (UID)
- Batch numbers and traceability data
- Manufacturer, importer, or operator information
- Details on substances of concern
- End-of-life instructions (repair, recycling, disposal)
- Environmental impact data (carbon footprint, resource usage)
- Compliance documentation (certificates, declarations, technical files)
Identa’s Attribute Builder lets you add anything else your customers find valuable—care tips, sourcing information, style advice, or brand content. The passport becomes an extension of your brand.
